This was a very lucky find that I stumbled upon when I saw something vaguely Derp looking on Maps. I was in the area so thought I'd have a nosey, but wasn't expecting anything. However it turned out to be a total gem!

This used to be the old staff quarters for a hotel in Sussex. The hotel is still in business, but I guess they moved their live in staff to a different lodging.

It has around 20 bedrooms, and looks like it was split into two sections with two separate front doors.

I couldn't find much history on this as its isn't really documented anywhere. However I can say that it closed after 2007 as that is the latest date written anywhere.

Taking a unexpectedly dark turn, I did find some information about a murder that took place on the grounds back in 2000. A husband murdered one of the hotel staff with a hammer that his wife was having an affair with. He then went on to take his own life.

The Explore

This wasn't really a planned explore as I was in the area for a different explore. This looked much better, so I didn't mess around and headed straight inside!

It's a fairly big house and is in pretty good condition. The house is split into two sides, the other side being accessible via the top floor loft area that goes right across to the far end and down again. I would assume that this would have been locked when it was in use.

At this end it was hardly touched. It was nice to see rooms that had full carpets and unbroken windows.

There is a small basement, but its mostly filled full of crap and not too interesting.

Looks like the fairies have been in claiming what they can, but they haven't done a very thorough job.

I really enjoyed this one, a nice change from the normal run down Derps I normally stumble across.

Popped in here yesterday, nice easy access but watch out for the nosy neighbours! Loved the eerie, dark second part of the house, the murder history adds some atmosphere :)

Drive past this pretty much every day for work and this morning there were 2 fire engines pulled up outside it with hoses going across the road, just stopped to see what happened there and seems like someone decided to light it up last night.. Looks pretty bad as there is no roof left on the building

Ah no! That's a real shame!
Insurance job or kids, I guess with Halloween and whatnot I wouldn't put it past a few local kids.

My thoughts aswell.. Nice plot for some new builds, a mate of mine that came along when we checked it out earlier in the year used to work at the hotel with people that lived there, apparently there seed some good party's there..
