A bit of a treat for those interested in slightly secret stuff. I've held off posting these for a while.

These are photos of the long since demolished Templer Barracks in Ashford Kent, formerly home of the Depot Intelligence Corps. A few boring photos but some interesting ones as well.

First, the guardroom.

In the background, the beginnings of the housing estate that now covers the entire site. In the 90's these were fields :-/

This is the rear entrance to Repton Manor. For those interested in secret squirrel stuff, this was the home of the Specialist Intelligence Wing, the training wing of the Force Research Unit.

Student's lockers on the Special Duties Course. No surname's and these would have been aliases, so I've not breached OPSEC.

How to grade an informer.

Incredibly this was still on the whiteboard at the time of my visit..

Instructions for a navigation exercise. The students would often leave the barracks in unmarked civilian cars to practice their training.

Safe in the main office in Repton Manor. What secrets were held in here?

Repton Manor still stands today as a listed building.

Forward Assault Working Group

These guys used to build sections of prison walls, security fences etc. Then chaps from Hereford etc would come and test them. A corner of the camp was once covered in sections of roofing and walls, with regular controlled explosions. Very boffin heavy.

More photos to come including Repton Manor, home of the Special Duties people including the Force Research Unit (FRU) and the Joint Services Interrogation Organisation...

This is great.
The guardroom that features in your first few photos in later years (but before these photos) became a museum for the Int Corps (as I'm sure you're aware). It was just inside the barrier to the left. I still have somewhere a green leather patch I bought in there.
More pics please, also if you have any of the married quarters just outside the perimeter fence as well?
Also I think the Intel grading codes have been rationalised to a fewer number of options, these days, thankfully....

Thanks

The guardroom was to the right of the main gate as you went in. The museum was to the left and I have some photos but it was on an old camera and there isn't much to see other than an empty dark room :-/

It wasn't possible to get to the officer's married quarters, because of the work being done on the rail line that bisected the camp. There were some quarters for NCO's near Repton Manor but sadly long demolished.

the manor or Specialist Int Wing was classrooms & support offices. There was a photo lab round the corner and under the building. Nice WO2 instructing f’stops & iso for different films. However no PH&TC -3 week interrogation course or R to I courses were run there all at but at JSIW across the field.

Clearly you didn't serve long enough
(if ever) in Ashford Station. Your acronyms are nearly right but your building ID is pretty crap! I guess you possibly stood outside 'The Manor' wondering how to get in. I doubt you were ever a student therein. And as for your iteration of FAWG - Nowhere close!

Forcible Assault Working Group…

You’re right, I wasn’t with the illustrious slime for long!
