History: The Teochew Cemetery is a large cemetery in Bangkok's Sathon District and is widely believed to be haunted. The cemetery was founded in 1899 and actually consists of adjacent cemeteries managed by three organisations, namely the Tio Chew Association of Thailand, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and the Hainan Dan Family Association. In 1996, the district administration began renovating the derelict site, and part of the cemetery now also serves as a public park.

This is a bit of a grey area, because graveyards are usually pretty derelict anyway but I think that this one is sufficiently abandoned to feature here - Mods can remove it if they feel otherwise.

I spent quite a bit of time here. It was quite creepy and easy to get lost in some areas but it was the mosquitoes that were the main threat. I tried to post the pics that captured the spirit of the place best.

I should add that there are some local efforts to restore the graveyard to a respectable condition but it's reliant on volunteers and will take some time to complete.

Looked like someone had been taking shelter inside here (it makes no sense to deposit offerings inside a tomb)

Hope you enjoyed yet another Thai UrbEx Report.. I did warn you there would be a few.
