Well, it all started bright and early, actually, dark, icy and early, after spending most of the night in A&E for a suspected broken wrist (and never having it looked at) I was off to meet the others to get the tour started. We all met up at 7am, Pincheck was chaffeur for the day :thumb , many thanks to him, and to Lost for being the tour guide :thumb , A little on the history of the first stop :-

Founded in 1973 under the name "Braes of Glenlivet", the distillery was intended to produce malt exclusively for the needs of the blenders, especially for the brands of the owner, The Chivas and Glenlivet group.
It was the most modern distillery in Scotland in those days. In 1995 the the Braes of Glenlivet distillery has been renamed in Braeval, because its owner did not want to mention Glenlivet as part of the name of any distillery but "The Glenlivet" anymore. They own "The Glenlivet" as well. The renaming took place in 1995.

And onto the pics.

And then we cracked onto the next explore..

Imperial Distillery, Carron

Built in 1897, by Thomas MacKenzie, it coincided with Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, which was no doubt an influencing factor when naming the distillery.

A lot has changed since my last visit with lost in the spring, a lot of boarding has taken place, possibly due to pikeys hacking the copper pipes off the still's etc, a real sad sight:(
