The Black Horse public House - Salford

After a tip off from rodxxx that this place was do-able, and as it's about a stones throw from my office, I thought I'd take a quick lunchtime
wander round this once magnificent building.
Father time has not been kind, and armed only with my slr and a mini cree, making this place look anything near decent was never going
to be easy...needless to say I failed.

History

The "Pubs of Manchester" website says that the Black Horse Hotel building, on the Crescent in Salford, was built in 1875, and time was
finally called around the year 2000, and the pub has remained boarded up ever since.
The Pevsner Guide draws attention to the carved keystones above the ground floor windows that feature blacksmithing tools, a horses'
head, a satyr and Bacchus.
The Black Horse is one of 5 locally listed buildings within the Crescent Conservation Area, and is designated as Grade A, which may
explain why its so far evaded the wrecking ball as part of Salfords New Islington redevelopment program.

The rather impressive façade, and if you squint you can see the carved keystones detailed in the history

this room houses a small mini bar and window seating, and I'm guessing was used for private functions

more period features with this spindle staircase which is still in relatively decent condition

I was hoping to find a couple of optics still in situe, alas the whole place has been trashed to within an inch of it's life

Down into the basement..not much to see in here after the metal fairies have paid a visit

A bit of a derp if truth be told, but worth a lunchtime wander...Cheers for looking :thumb
