Maple mill was another of Oldham's fine redbrick cotton mills. Of later years it was used by Kitchens Direct, until a huge fire destroyed all but the water tower. It was a great pity for Oldham to loose another mill, and a greater shame it's tiled engine hall was also destroyed.

The state the site has been left in is pretty shocking really. It looks like the archive footage from Coventry in 1941! Rubble and bricks are scattered in the road and path, and huge chunks of wall hang over the path waiting to kill a family who have the misfortune of walking past! The balckened tower still stands, and lucky for us, it is still climbable! It offers cracking views over mill country!

It was sad to see the beautiful tiles of the engine hall smashed on the floor, what a waste of such a stunning building :(
