Hidden away in a small medieval village on a steep hillside overlooked by a medieval castle is this little church. There has been a church on this site dating back at least 900 years and likely originating as a family chapel for the Carafa family, a powerful Southern Italian family prominent in this area throughout the middle ages. The church has been damaged by multiple earthquakes over the years finally being abandoned after the large earthquakes that impacted this area in the 1980's collapsed the roof and rendered the church unusable.
This place was a small bonus explore close to where we were staying. It was located in tight medieval streets with quite overlooked access but still retained some nice features and lovely decay once inside. As with all the explores in this region of Italy the setting and the views were nothing short of amazing!
Thanks for looking.
