The heights, Surrey Sept 20

Got a feeling this one's been kept quiet in a NP for a while maybe. I used to work and live fairly close to this place and didn't even know of its closure.

After a phone call from the Explorer returns saying he was in my area at this place I just had to go and see it for myself

The heights was a preparatory school for boys aged 4-13 with a nursery for boys and girls aged 2-4.

Set up in 1955, The School prided itself on providing an outstanding ‘all round’ education within a nurturing environment designed to give a sound Christian and moral grounding for all pupils.

Closed in July 2016 and has decayed very fast due to burst water pipes and has certainly seen the local chavs smashing the place up.

Reports show the school has been sold, but they are awaiting planning and appeals to build more affordable housing. That's all I could really dig up on it if anyone has a earlier report before it's trashing or any further info please let me know.

First time trying bulb mode for these with the one on the courts being a 10min exposure

Its a lovely building. Do we know when it was built. The exterior and some bits inside are not in keeping with the more modern bits of the school. What a shame its gone like this. Good report, great photos too :thumb

It was built around 1900 as a manor house called The Heights, designed by a famous local architect who also designed around 100 individually styled houses in the town. It was extended in the 1950s and opened as a prep school until it closed in 2016.
