Hit this spot last year but I’m terrible at getting round to posting so here’s an overview of the hotel.

Property Summary

Refurbished in 2007, this small, family oriented complex of 5 floors is surrounded by a garden with subtropical plants and palm trees. The facilities include a 24-hour reception offering money exchange, restaurant, snack bar and terrace bar and internet access (with extra charge). The comfortable rooms offer bathroom, fridge, satellite TV, sitting area, balcony and hire safe. The Junior Suites have a separate bedroom........

Activities

The complex offers a wealth of entertainment possibilities. There are 2 pools, both with children's area, one situated near to the main building, and the other in the quieter garden area. One pool is heated during the Winter season. There is a multi-sports court where tennis, basketball, volleyball or football can be played; as well as table tennis and darts by the main pool area. There are also billiard tables and other games. For the less energetic, there is the Club House, a separate wooden chalet at the front of the hotel, where you can enjoy a game of cards or chess, or simply relax with a good book. An entertainment programme offers day and evening activities and later dance along with the resident DJ. The Mini Club offers entertainment for the younger guests and includes the play park. ..... all facilities the merlin hotel no longer has it’s now in a complete state of disrepair and except for a few squatters is now empty it’s quite a thing to behold but vandals have got in there and smashed mostly everything. We got in fairly easily and had a good nose round although a bit unerving at times due hearing who ever else resides in there scurrying round. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves

This is in Callao Salvaje, right? I used to live just down from here and work at the Perla Gris - always looked worth getting into, I'm glad someone has!

Just a shame someone got in there before and destroyed the majority of it but yes that’s exactly where it is lovely bit of the island

That's a shame. At one point there were discussions about trying to buy it and turn it into a sister resort to Pearly Grey as well. I can't see that being feasible at this point sadly.
It's a shame that certain 'explorers' seem more intent on destroying locations rather than the actual exploration.

On a different note, I used to love going for a swim with the sea turtles in Alcalá . Certainly miss living out there.
