Brief History: Grade 2 listed building. Built between 1844 and 1848 tanking 4 years to build. Housed over 1500 patients in the early 1900's. Had its own farm and gasworks. Planned for closure in the 1960's by Enoch Powell (Minister of Health at the time) but stayed open until the 1990's, was then closed in sections between 1991 - 1995.
