Currently standing outside this place and can confirm it's sealed tight from the front
If the entrance is round the back, it's too busy and too daylighty for me to attempt it today, sadly! Alas...
It was nearly a year ago I went but was definitely access around the back, was very busy though in the pub opposite on the river, I went to a few other nearby locations then went back as it was getting dark

@Fluffy if you were outside yesterday, Im glad you didnt find a way in. Please dont explore during lockdown, I would hate to see yet another banning. Too many urbexers already been banned, and I enjoy your posts. But admin & forum in general will take a dim view of exploring during lockdown. I get we are all itching to get out and explore. But safety is paramount.

I know Jane, thank you. Sorry, I should have clarified. I wasn't there specifically for that purpose; I was actually driving home from visiting my girlfriend and her very ill son. I'm their designated carer during lockdown, I bring them prescriptions and food packages weekly, and I have to drive through Abingdon en route from hers back to mine! Thank you for the concern though.

Lovely place this, sitting on the bank of the river Thames, The Upper Reaches used to be an old water mill, the original wheel for it is incorporated inside what used to be the restaurant, I’ve found a pic of this along with a couple of others of what it looked like when it was open. Haven’t seen any reports for here on the forum so I believe it’s the first one.

It’s completely surrounded by water and you go over a little bridge to get to it. We checked it out in daylight but had to go back to find access when it was dark as we were in full view of the pub on the opposite side of the river.

It closed in 2015 when the leaseholders cited a prolonged period of losses. It has been empty ever since but plans were revealed in March this year to revitalise it back as a hotel.

Access was fairly easy, bit of a climb over some barbed wire topped fencing into a small courtyard and we were in. Was a decent explore to end the day with.

I would love to check this place out. I’ve lived in the town for more than 20+ years. I remember when it was open (even booked Xmas dinner there one year!). Seen it fall into decay, so very very sad. Would love to look round, if anyone is local and up for it??

You're very local to me if thats the case - Upper Reaches has always been pretty well sealed, although if I'm honest it's been an age since I've checked on it.

Well sealed last time I checked in the gap between lockdowns at the end of last year. Doubt much has changed. Would love to do it though if it ever becomes possible
