Information - Tilbury A - Now and Then

Well it's actually more like 'two years ago and then' but you get the idea. I was lucky to be shown these pictures recently. I had the control room one already but was great to see how well some of the others matched up with my shots.

External is taken from the wrong angle but clearly the same place.

Control room again from a different angle but not much else had changed.

The lab is almost identical

The workshop one was really frustrating as i dont have one from quite the right angle but you can see the first floor room with the windows on the left had had the bottom breeze bocked up.

Staff canteen is spot on!

Same in the kitchen

Ive not been in the pump house yet but it's still there inside B stations fence so i will endeavor to get some shots if i ever make it back.

Where did you find those old pics? Was it in the place itself? I looked hard for stuff online. There were some fantastic old B&W photos in a cupboard in there. They were very high quality photographs. I wish I had spent some more time looking at those. I also feel sad that they have probably been burned now.

Somone scanned them for me from an old station brochure. I have one brochure myself but the photos aren't so good.

I was in awe of how much paperwork was laying I'm there but as you say now all in the skip. I only picked up a few token bits.

A has totally gone apart from the pump house I belive. B is slowly being taken apart.

Yeah that side of the sight no longer exists. B is going fairly quickly too.

Yep, B is well into being dismantled now. I can hear them working across the river when I walk down there on my lunch at work.
