Tulketh High School
Been really busy with work so not had much chance to go out or do any reports but had a bit of luck with this one, been on our radar for years and just got lucky! Went with
Alphonse Gangitano last week to have a look and after searching for a while and having no luck tried one last place before giving up and we were in! Had a quick mission around inside but very on top with torches as still have an active sports center there and big windows surrounded by houses so we left it and went back for an early morning. Luckily the entry didn't get sealed in the meantime! Had chance to do a few of the floors and the gym before alarms went off and we left. It has now been sealed again,
Bit Of History
Not really a lot of information on this one. It opened in 1964. In 2007, the County Council’s Cabinet Member for Schools considered reports about the impact of falling pupil rolls on the viability of a number of secondary schools in parts of Lancashire, including Preston. Lancashire County Council consulted on a proposal to close Tulketh High School, and the school closed in summer 2008, with the pupils transferring to the roll of Fulwood High School, which has continued to use the Tulketh site for an interim period and has provided continuity of support for the pupils. The reports in 2007 also noted that falling rolls were affecting City of Preston High School, and that future options for secondary school provision in east Preston would need to be considered.
