So on the 12th of June 2020 me and a few friends were exploring a couple of well know locations in the Liverpool area and just happend to come across this by chance.
We were walking along and noticed a hole in the ground naturally as we were exploring this peaked our interest and we decided to go check it out, the entrance was hiding underneath a metal sheet on the grass and when we pulled it back revealed a hole in the floor easily accessible for most people.
The tunnels were a maze of hallways which looked the same and with the walls being made out of thick concrete there wasn’t any signal so we tried our best to remember the way back, the tunnels went on for quite a while and there were glow sticks on the ground still showing a small amount of light so there was definitely people here before us recently,it looked like there was once more entry points to this location that have since been filled in so we were very lucky to Come across this.
We didn’t complete this network of tunnels as the floor began to get worse and worse as you can see in the pictures below but no doubt we will be back again at some point.

I have also looked and not been able to find any reports on these so if someone could shed some light as to what they were used for then please let me know

Already feature on 28DL... a member even uses a photo of these shelters as his avatar

As @jezzyboo says.... fairly standard shuttered concrete air raid shelters

Your post needs editing to remove all the duplicate images.

Yep seen these a few times. That is wide open. Will be filled pretty quickly I expect . As above as @tigger says needs some editing, the duplicates but also the exact date you went. Its never a good idea to post exact date. Mth & yr is better. Bare in mind you only have 24 hrs to edit, otherwise admin will have to do it.

Good find though, and thanks for update on them. keep the posting up :thumb

I'd say those are old air raid shelters, surprised the local council has not backfilled the entry points, as they did with some near here.

Initially I thought this may have been related to the Kingsway / Queensway Tunnels. Many years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Queensway tunnel however through an odd route. All there was keeping the access hole covered was a thin loose metal plate, with steps below into the tunnel.
