Welcome to the biggest asbestos textile mill in the world.

Turner Brothers have had a plant at the Spodden Valley site since 1871. Closure has been gradual with asbestos processing ending in the mid 1990s and partial demolition of the site in 2001. Recently the last tennents, including verious TBA spin off companies have moved out leaving the vast site empty and at the mercy of gangs (and i mean GANGS!) of metal thieves and feral children

The whole of the Spodden Valley is now stuck in limbo. A housing development is desired but over 120 years of processing of one of the most feared substances in every health and safety enthusiasts guide book has left it 'allegedly' one of the most polluted spots in our fine country.

All i know is, this is one of the hottest new explores of 2012 and there is much much more to come! Big thanks to Bigjobs for the original lead in 2010. I did visit back then and must admit i was a little disappointed but returning again and getting more or less free access made me think again. Stunning industrial spaces full of old as hell stuff and the history and significance of the site were not even the main attractions. Production may have ceased but the space is still very much alive. Metal thieves around literally every corner, legit salvage workers, men in some kind of hazchem 'space suits' washing the place down with funny smelling liquid and even a lone policeman made for a thoroughly interesting day! An aspect of exploring that is very often considered a negative but for me its great. Get them videos up DWEEB!

I work at this company - they moved factories prior to me starting here.
I believe that the old factory is still standing in the same conditions as the photos
