Im moving on monday, and already have a lot on so I wont be able to check any of the stuff out and thought I would share some potential leads I havent got around to checking. Nothing major, but worth a look all the same.

The first is on Elmers Green Lane, Skelmerdale. If you look at the screenshot below, it looks like a sort of underground bunker entrance, and if I remember correctly from when I played around the area as a kid, its all blocked up with stone blocks, but there are areas which have been accessed before covered with breezeblock, however these may or not be there, or manholes may provide access, or this could be a load of crap.

I too am lucky enough to be in skelmersdale... :'(
Iv heard of a large cave under ther beacon I wonder if its the same. Apparently the entrance or one of them is in don't mill in someones garden, we went to check it out couple of years ago but found it to be blocked in. The hardcore blocking the entrance looked daily fresh.
A friend of mine claims he's been in and reckons its the size of the concourse (local shopping centre) at least.
Iv also heard rumours that from the beacon point there is tunnels leading to Liverpool (apparently priests used to use it many moons ago.)
I take anything I hear with a pinch of salt as skem whispers are very common!

Sorry for hijacking your thread, I do wonder if the entrance you've found is linked into the "cave" or tunnels iv heard about?

Hi mate,

No worries about responding; that's what we're here for. I need to get myself back up to skem and have another poke round soon :thumb

There's no tunnels to Liverpool, not now, in the past or in the future. It's about 17 miles http://goo.gl/maps/soGlM

I like the look of the first picture posted in this thread though, got to be worth a drive / cycle there to check it out ?

Obviously sarcasm.. I'm pulling my hair out trying to convince my missus to move away (Australia) :p
But its turning out not to be that bad there's quite a few spots to check out and also some pretty good mountain biking trails not a million miles away :p

With the white blocks in the north corner of the flat field and the embankment and the well mown grass, looks like a covered reservoir.

Iv just had a quick look on way home from work, it was pretty busy with dog walkers so couldn't look to much into depth, from what I saw if I'm looking in the right place is say its well blocked up (breezeblocks fill what once was the entrance?)
Here's a couple of pictures

With the rise in the ground, it looks like a water storage tank to me!
