History - Unity mill is thought to have been constructed in the 1860s for spinning cotton and was formerly known as Trianon Mill. By the 1890’s the mill was converted to a rubber works then back again to a textile mill. The site has been used for the manufacture of products for the food, animal feed and brewing sector until it closed in December 2003. The mill buildings are considered to be of archaeological and historic interest and are included in the Greater Manchester Sites and Monuments Record.

Explore - We had a quick mooch round this as it wasn't too far and we had a morning free. Access to the site is easy, access to the main mill building is a bit of a squeeze but also very easy. The mill is in a pretty bad way, one of the most trashed we've done barring possibly Rylands mill. While it is very trashed there are some nice big open mill floors and the odd interesting feature here and there, a building that we suspect was the engine house has some interesting windows and there's quite a bit of nice decay around the place but that's about it. The explore was very chilled other than the basement which is the stuff of nightmares and has a real horror vibe about it.

Thanks mate. I always think mills are one of the easiest places to take decent looking photos. The big open mill floors just make cool pics.

I went on site again and there’s been another demolition, shame you and I missed in early 2021 before half of it got scrapped!

but yeah I went again to see it’s state and it’s almost completely been demolished except for the main mill. Wont be surprised if it turns into apartments
