I dont know if this is old news but after a fail week exploring Dover, the plotting rooms in St Margarets/South Forelands have been sealled as has the deep shelter up there. Metal gates bolted on the inside, padlocked up. Did come across a fellow explorer that way who said Z Rocket shelter has recieved the same treatment. Fan bay deep shelter, along the path edge by it has gained a barbed wire fence to prevent going over to the entrance. Not the end of the world though, still get to it. Didnt check if they had gone round by the underground magazines in Fan Bay. The Western Outworks of Fort Burgoyne has been sealled, go over the drawbridge and greated by chipboard wall. Other access into it but the tunnel inside the site, I believe, the magazine has been sealled too. Tried to get up into the Horseshoe Bastion by the castle, small fence at the bottom but around the top are 2 electric fences running parallel to each other stopping access into the moat.

Seems like they are cracking down in Dover now :(

Wow. That's a LOT of sites that have been sealed up. Maybe they have been tracking the vandalism towards the sites and finally decided to do something about it?

The bits and pieces at South Foreland have been sealed for a while, both the deep shelters and the plotting rooms. Interesting to hear about Fan Bay though. I suppose it is dangerous just to have a hole in the ground where people go walking.

Horseshoe Bastion is a 40 foot abseil so dont know where you got that from...st mags/south forelands has been like that ages..Didnt know about fanbay but as you say hardly stopping you..a lot is being sealed due to Bats and access to the st mags can be gained via the western heights preservation mob or atleast a bloke whos involved with it..and theres some other arps etc around dover sealed too

Quick edit horseshoe i believe can be entered via the moat but thats an official route and not going to happen..so rope work is needed

Ahh, I didn't realise its been sealed off for thaat long, sorry. Well, along the top of the moat/bastion in places are wire loops with plastic lined insides sunk into the ground that I'm sure are for climbing purposes. I'm going to say no more but think I've said too much anyway..

Another quick update - St Martin's Deep Shelter is still sealed, no sign of anti-climb paint at the Casemates (although did go a different route in the end, not the route you suggested Wevs), forgot to look at Archcliffe, the Grand Shaft is piss easy at the moment, and Fort Burgoyne is still just sitting there looking nice :) Updates from yesterday afternoon, reports on the Casemates and the Grand Shaft to follow.

We approached from the North of the site, and entered down a bank into the Haxo casemates, then walked down the stairs to South, if that makes sense? Left via North though.
