Lead or Rumour info - Various Places around Todmorden / Hebden Bridge

#1
On my route between Huddersfield and Burnley, I've noticed a few places that're abandoned.

Firstly (And almost certainly reported about before) is the Abraham Ormerod Medical Centre in Todmorden centre, across from the market. I managed to get in there 9 years ago when I was 13 but I've never been in since. It's easy to get into, as there's windows around that back that, if memory serves, aren't overlooked by anything.

Directly next to this is a building that used to be a Quicksave supermarket and allthough I've been in this circa 2003 when it was open, I have no idea if it's break-in-able. The building isn't going to have any architectural interest, but you never know what you're gonna find whilst poking around a dusty old budget supermarket, right?

Another place I went in as a youth was an Abandoned Church at the End of Queen Street which is, again, prettymuch next to the Doctors and Quicksave [RIP] .. I'm not entirely sure of the name of the church, but It's situated behind Todmorden's C of E school.
I have no idea if this church has been renovated or saved etc. as I havn't been out of my car to check, but if it's still disused (and I intend to check) it's a good place to have a quick look around.

The most interesting place I've seen is Pecket Well Mill which is just between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd on the main road... it's a fairly sizeable old mill on the main road, which would definitely require a wooden panel on the door being removed to enter. It looks like a really interesting place and I'd be suprised if anyone has been in anytime recently.

The final 2 places I've seen are small pubs: The Woodland Inn on the main road in Todmorden, towards Hebden Bridge and also, The Bull which is on the main road on the way into Sowerby Bridge.
I'm not sure what exploration value boarded up pubs have, but they might be worth a look.

If anyone is interested in any of these, I'd quite like to check any of them out! and also, I can probably provide more information on ways of entry / risk of detection etc.

Well anywhere is 'break-in-able' - but that is breaking and entering, not exploring - think you have misunderstood what urban exploring is mate :crazy

which would definitely require a wooden panel on the door being removed to enter.
I'm sure there must be a breaking and entering forum you could join mate

You SERIOUSLY need to step back and think about your ethics and what you are prepared to do - but don't tar us with your law breaking mate - it's not what we are into.

I'm not trying to incite a mass breaking-and-entering spree, I'm merely stating that if someone was o want to explore these places, they would have to remove a plank or two. I wasn't aware there's a code of ethics for exploration... Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure some of the places explored have had to be broken into, and also, some are gaurded by security etc. so trespassing & private propertly laws come into play, too.

And no, I'm pretty sure I know where I mean. There's a mill on the corner of Carr Lane and Burnley Road [Postcode HX7 on Google Maps] that's abandoned and isn't the one pictured. I drive past it twice a week.

You are wrong

You need to do a bit of reading mate - there is a massive difference between civil trespass (which is not a criminal offence in this country) and the sort of criminal act you were suggesting.

Have a read of the section on trespass law, and a general read around the forum, as you seem a little unclear to say the least :thumb

There really is no getting through to some people is there? :crazy

Creative entry and straight breaking in are 2 very different beasts! One will get you a slap on the wrists the other a holiday at her majesty's pleasure.

You tool lol, no need for B & E

As for the Todmorden stuff well the Abraham Ormerod Medical Centre is fucked and not worth the effort, it has been set alight more times than Take Thats re-light my fire, beyond a Derp shall we say

The Quicksave supermarket is actually the New Olympia Picture Palace

Thats right a former cinema/picture house, myself and Stepping Lightly did this ages ago now, and with a little outside the box thinking I'm sure you may just find yourself inside once again ;)

pecket well mill is the one posted...however we saw another one with massive iron gates a while ago, never bothered to look though.

I know one of those pubs the woodland, if its the same one I'm thinking of isn't really worth the effort . just trashed inside.

This is the type of person that gives UE a bad name. Grow up boy.

He probably carries a box of matches as well just in case it gets cold! What lame locations get posted in leads at times, if they are so simple post a report...

Oh I found a Wheelibin that may just be break-in-able with some interesting contents if your interested?

I think the nice car over the road might be "break-in-able", I could go for an Urban Explore in that?? Fool

Seriously tho, think you might be in the wrong place, noone here would ever break into anywhere. This is Urban Exploring, not Urban Vandalism.
