A local woollen mill which was powered by a 600hp steam engine until 1980. Beautiful place and most of the buildings are still in use, these are a few shots of the ones that aren't except one or two that are completely falling in on themselves. There is almost no history to be found on this place but none the less thought it would be worth sharing. Had no exterior shots that I could find, the one below is from good old google but is a little out dated.

There is a book called "Wool and Worsit" by Michael Day about the mills of the Holme Valley. It's a fantastic resource, and has a lot of information on this mill. The rest of the site is still occupied by Westwood Yarns - if I get round to putting a report up myself I'll get some of the history written up.

Book looks interesting my try get myself a copy, I am familiar with most of the mills in the Holme Valley anyway as it is where I live. I was aware Westwood Yarns still occuipies some of the site but a large proportion of it is not in use.
