Thanks to Bungle for the lead on this one.

Visited with Alley, Solomon & Over.

Can't find any history on the mill itself, apart from the main tenant, Buckleys paints went into administration in August, for the second time in two years, with no new buyer this time, the receivers are looking to sell it. Cue one survery of the chimney, and one ladder :D

The chimney stands at 160feet (measured the rope afterwards), it looks a LOT taller at night when you're stood at the bottom. Being too close to the M60, it was decided to go back in daylight, and wear high vis, and it worked a treat :D

Anyway, I was first, so up I went. Making enough noise as I got to the top to not have pigeons flying about my face. Putting my head over the top, I was blasted with a gust of wind, which made to right hand side of the ladder come away by about and inch and a half. So I clipped onto one of the chimney banding bolts and climbed up astride the chimney. Phoned the lads at the bottom and told them to make their way up.

Next was Sam, who flew up. Followed by Solomon.

We stayed up there for a good while before the cold got the better of us. We'd decided that to go down, the easiest way would be to abseil :D My ATC is handed, and with it being very stif, and not runnig smooth enough, I stopped after about a third of the way, and turned it round. Much smoother :D

On with the pics :D
