I have no decent camera equipment. I have requested some for Christmas but until then maybe someone with some decent gear can get in here and take some proper shots.
History - Built 1907 the site consists of three conjoined buildings, a mix of dressed granite and concrete and was used to dry English china clay which was mined locally and then transported off around the world.
The top level shows the hypercaust (half collapsed) used to heat the floor and there are loads of pipes and steam valves in situ. Access to the site is no issue, a padlock on a five bar gate!
There are a couple of dodgy rusted staircases inside but at least two solid stone ones allowing access to the upper levels. Out the back there are huge tanks of standing water, two kiln stacks and part of the building has been burnt out, collapsed roof etc.
Great atmosphere, fun to explore and no one bothers you:
the collapsed hypercaust - remind me, what did the Romans ever do for us?
so um, this site rocks, will try harder with picture quality. Back soon. K
