Report - White Lodge Court - 04/11/06

This was concept living of the type that was highly popular in the 1980's. This development is just of The Shore Road on the approach to Carrickfergus, it's right beside a huge Police Station that opened about 5 years ago, it used to be The Rothmans Ciggy factory, that would have been a top explore in the 1990's. Anyway, these wee houses where all boarded up about 3 to 4 years ago, when I was young I used to really want to live in one. I was always fasinated by the huge plate class windows, sky lights and plastic conical roofs. It was nice to finally get to see inside one of them.

Inside the houses was a surprise, they really are small. The Bathroom was located downstairs and was the size of nothing, tiny kitchens, small dining rooms and compact living rooms, all the doors where painted yellow for some reason and all still had electric fittings, cookers, electric heating and smoke alarms, the smoke alarm was chirping and I mistook it for an alarm when it went off! Downstairs was very dark due to the boardings, but the upstairs thanks to the clear roof was very bright and had strange stainless steel banninsters and grey carpets.

Hate to say it, but that cooker is cleaner, newer and in better shape than the one in my house. I was very surprised by how untouched by the local vandals the houses where, the gardens contained many smashed alcopop bottles, cider bottles and beer cans, but the houses inside, resonably clean, still.
