Hi,

I'm working on Whittingham during the demo works, most of the corridors are gone, ward 11 corridor is gone, Ward 14 & Ward 6 is now completely demolished, Ward 17 is being demolished next week.. Cameron House is gone apart from a couple of bits but it's defo not safe to go in. The water tower is also being demolished very soon. The doctors house, the cottages and the nurses accommodation is also demolished.

The 5 villas are remaining for now. Just to warn you, the laundry, the boiler houses, the kitchen and cedar croft are all full of broken or damaged asbestos so will advise to avoid those areas, asbestos works are also going on at ward 14 and the corridor by the RC Chapel so would avoid those also. There is asbestos throughout the other buildings but we aren't starting on those yet. I have over 300 pictures from this site so understand your excitement at getting in. I caught 3 lovely photographers on site today in the ballroom, let them take their pictures then showed them the superintendents building, staircase etc plus the outside for pictures before escorting them off.

We know you all get on, just be aware that a lot of the floors especially on the upper levels are now rotten due to rain etc from no slates being on the roof of all the buildings, and the buildings might not be as sturdy as they were due to the demolition..

Seen some great pictures though :thumb

Also the caravans are the asbestos lads that work away from home 3 out of 4 weekends, caravan is cheaper than a hotel plus they like the club.. Lovely lads ;)

Thank you very much for the update.
