Hey all! I'm a student doing a project on the quality, perception, and experience of underground spaces in Cornwall. I'm am looking for regular urban explorers from Cornwall to chat with about why you like being underground. I've posted some questions below that I'd love to hear answers on! I'll write them below so you can copy/paste if you're keen :) I'd also love to chat with people online, on the phone, or meet up in person -- all will be kept totally anonymous of course. Feel free to post on here or pm me to set up a time/way to talk further.

Good luck with your course and good luck with getting answers on here - i suspect you'll need more of the latter. I've a question for you - what is so different underground in cornwall compared to elsewhere? I'd rethink or reword some of your questions as well or you'll get sarcy answers if at all. Not interested in pm's and not from cornwall either

As @tallginge touched on, if you're expecting answers on here, broaden your range and reword.
There's people on this forum from all over the world! By doing that, you'll get a wider range of answers! Equally myself, I'm not from Cornwall.
Hope that gives you a bit more help and ideas.

I’m not from Cornwall either. I like underground exploring because I love light painting and the silence.

Cornwall can be a bit of a pain in the arse to go underground in. Loads of places seem to accessible only down a big shaft.

Gender: Genders are social constructs, or so they say, but I do have a willy.
Occupation: Ve vill vun ze vor.
How long have you been exploring underground in Cornwall: Never.
How many underground sites in Cornwall have you been to (approx): None.

When and why did you start going underground? Do you remember your first visit?

To learn how to use my camera settings.

Why do you like going underground?

It's less being underground and more seeing something that isn't a high street populated by starbucks and McDonalds. Life's a bit trivial isn't it, if there is nothing compelling about it.

do you have a favorite place, and why? (don't need to tell me the location?)

Yes, because it's beautiful, and people rarely get to see it. The journey there is memorable and they people I go there with are incredible.

What's the best part about exploring underground?

It's rarely seen, not like the inside of McDonalds. It's not the exclusivity either, it's rarity.

What's the hardest part about exploring underground?

There is nothing hard about it. Anyone can do it and it would be conceited to think otherwise.

Is there anything unique about the underground in Cornwall?

It's in Cornwall and nowhere else underground is.

What would you want to see happen with these spaces in the future, if anything?

Nothing.

5 Years ago, cos it looked like a good laugh. Yes I remember my first time, it was Box mine and me and my mate got completely lost down there for a couple of hours.

Why do you like going underground?

Predominently its bloody good fun and it also has the added bonus of keeping me sane

do you have a favorite place, and why? (don't need to tell me the location?)

Yes, its a beautiful peaceful space where not that many people go and I love it for that.

What's the best part about exploring underground?

SRT, Amazing formations, seeing stuff that hardly anyone else ever has the balls to go and have a look at.

What's the hardest part about exploring underground?

The walk to and from the Mine/Cave/Bunker

Is there anything unique about the underground in Cornwall?

very similar to Yorkshire as most places need rope access skills.

What would you want to see happen with these spaces in the future, if anything?

At worst absolutely nothing, at best more places being opened up for experienced underground enthusiasts to explore without getting hassle from jobsworth idiots.
