Having been in this place a few times before but never having a camera or officiant lighting on hand to go in to far we came across it once again while checking out a few other leads in the area, i know its been done a good few times but thought id throw a report up anyway, as rumor has it this place is due to be sealed for good in the not to distant future.
anyway a bit of history on the place. built to protect the workers and public of the rylalds mill and pagefield iron works area during ww2 as the area was a vilified target of the Nazi bombers due to possible providings from the mill and iron works for the British military at the time or the war. the shelter is made up of a number of small concrete corridors about 1.5m wide and varying in length with several escape/entrances for effective filling. it was built to house a few hundred people only during a bombing raid as most nearby residents had Anderson shelters on there properties.
Upon entering you can see this place is a bit of a dumping ground

Metal bed frames trolleys and other equipment, i can only assume some of the larger equipment was assembled down here at some point or there was much larger entrances during the shelters life

the cracks are appearing!!! i really do think this place is nearing the end of its life.
