Sometimes you find things you don't expect! I had been checking out the back roads of Guildford and as i walked past the old Holy Trinity School, i noticed the distinctive shapes of a WW2 Air Raid shelter, this had to be looked into, so contacted BBA and returned with cameras. The shelter was constructed on three sides of the old playground,you had a choice of seven entrances. On entering we found it to be a little bigger than expected, with a few old school desks and what looked like a school teachers desk,plus some drug info and some porn
I guess it might be the unexpected nature of finding this place , but i was chuffed to bits with this shelter
History
During the Second World War Guildford Council decided to build 18 Air Raid Shelters to cope with the increasing amount of German Air Raids. Several schools were chosen, one of which was The Holy Trinity School. This shelter was used by both the school and the local community. The school is now the Pewley Hill Centre
