Wyckhams Close holds a derelict house set back from the A45 near Birmingham Airport. I’ve seen it from the road many times but finally got round to having a look round.
It’s in a pretty bad state and the grounds appear to have been used by Carrilion for the A45 railway bridge works a few years ago.
I can’t find any information about the house or it’s past unfortunately, which is a shame. So if anyone knows any history about it please share.
This is my first report so it’s not very pic heavy and a bit amateur.

Built between 1888 and 1904, it was originally called “The Hut”. It was renamed Wyckhams Close around 1944.

Possibly something to do with Wyckham Blackwell, the timber merchants.

It’s been pretty much empty since 2003

Outline Planning permission was granted in 2010 to knock it down and replace it with a new detached dwelling and garage.

A compulsory purchase order was issued by Solihull Council in 2013 in order for them to replace and widen the A45 / Bridge

Been driving past here for years and always wondered about it. The fire damage only happened around 12 months ago, there’s also a derelict gate house closer to the road. Did you check out the outbuildings to the side

Thanks for the info! I struggled to find anything on it!
Such a shame, would like to see pictures before it was derelict.

The gate house is really overgrown with stingers up to your neck. There is the row of what look like stables to the right but you can’t even see them when your at the house. Will need to check it out in the spring when it’s all died back.

Visited this place yesterday, such a beautiful building. There is another smaller building in the trees next to the road, only spotted it as i was walking up the path from the house.

I went in this when the building work was going on, on the A45.
All the upstairs was still walk able, and the majority of the roof was there too. Such a shame it's gone to ruin.
Are the 2 long garages still standing in the nearby trees as well?
