In Beacon, New York, lies a stunning, gothic mansion , once a mental institution. It hasn't opened its doors in over a quarter century. The space, named Craig House, was the first privately owned psychiatric hospital in America, specializing in progressive attitudes towards mental health by promoting techniques such as talk therapy. The once exclusive hospital closed in 1999.

It's a beautiful place this. I was sad to see it had gotten into a mess, not seen much from it for ages now.

It's a beautiful place this. I was sad to see it had gotten into a mess, not seen much from it for ages now.

Currently its not accessible as its all locked and sealed. Current plans are underway to do something with it but I'm not sure of the exact specifics. Last I was there, which was over a year ago just about, it was in fine condition, beautiful.
