I remember seeing a report on this a few years back and it had stuck in my head as the water had powered a clock in the town centre above

I went in via the infall and the water level seemed to be a trickle

Inside there seemed to be a couple of small bricked off side passages

There has been strengthening work since the last report I have seen posted (2009)

Shortly after is the split and the remains of the clock mechanism

Sorry the pic is slightly blurred

Shortly after this the water level rose to waist deep and I got a soaking thanks to a small hole in my chesties

Final pic before putting my camera away to save it from a dunking

After dragging myself out of the outfall and climbing up to the amusement of a guy that was fishing I got one last snap of the outfall and buggered off home

I'd love to see what that mechanism looked like back in the day.
