Back in Oct 2012 several of us were allowed to have a good look around the main part of Tonedale Mill.
At present the site appears to be owned by a property company Tonedale Mill, Wellington, Somerset | Sheikh Holdings and some of the buildings appeared to have been started to be converted into apartments, however all work has been stopped for some years now. Part of the site is still in use but the majority is fenced off with a security guard.
Here are some of the piccies from that trip.

Coming on to site through the gates
the big hole is where the road has collapsed into the millstream.

Into the powerhouse and the Allen diesel generator

The site used to generate its own power with both steam and diesel.

The cables and switchgear have gone but most everything else is still there.

The boiler house with the 'new' boiler on the right.

    The coal-fired #1 boiler.
    looking a bit bare behind

    The 'Thing' on #3 boiler

    The steam turbine

Next door to the power house was the condenser house where the cooling water for the diesel and the exhaust steam from the turbine were cooled down using water pumped from the millstream. All the condensers long gone. Under the building was a chamber where the water was returned to the millstream, all coated in a film of oil! YUK!!

Having a look inside the Allen

    The fire pump

The cables (well, all but two) have gone as has the switchgear, but some bits still remain

Next to the millstream, the grave of Charlie!

Have to get a more comprehensive report done and file the rest of the piccies.
