Skeleton Key: Marvellous pictures, thanks. I used to work at the Hendon site of Middlesex Polytechnic, later a University, in the 1970s. It was a multi-site polytechnic created out of several north London further education colleges and with one r two 'oddities' like a new factory at Bounds Green for engineering students.

Trent Park Mansion was the jewel in the poly. crown, and where the Director had his office. Evening events were sometimes held there, put on by the Performing Arts students. There was a mini-bus service every couple of hours, linking the sites. It took inter-site post and students. All very uneconomic - but that was in the last heady days of local authorities funding higher education from the Rates (pre Council Tax).

Berkeley Homes bought the derelict site and grounds a year so ago.. I believe the planning application for housing will be considered in the autumn, 2016, after local public consultation. The mansion will be preserved and the best features in the grounds will be used, apparently. There's a lot on the 'net for armchair travellers like me!
The university's Hendon campus is going strong but the uni sold the sites at Bounds Green, Trent Park, Cat Hill, Enfield, Ivy House Golders Green. The Mansion at Trent Park was initially bought by a Malaysian educational outfit, but they never did use it for Malaysian students as planned.

I first came across a brief description of the old Trent Park campus on the 'London RIP' website that points up places that are going forever.

Skeleton Key: I forgot to say that the extensive grounds allowed some Halls of Residence to be built, a rarity to live cheaply in such a lovely environment. The students who attended didn't know how lucky they were, I'm sure.
There also were courses for teachers to return to learning for a year to update teaching skills

Your pictures showing the WW2 connection were great, too. Sassoon was quite a famous war poet.
Well done for recording all before it goes under bricks and mortar.
