Great Northern Underground - Manchester - August 2010

    Visited with Oldskool and Andy

Props to OS and Andy on this one, the masterminds of a full English breakfast.

I actually have no idea where this is, well I do, it's underneath the great northern warehouse in Manchester but I'm not entirely sure of the official name of the place, I'm sure somebody will know.

I understand it to be part of the underground canal, and Andy enlightened us that it was part of a transhipment process, where donkeys were used to load boats and goods would be shipped underground to other pockets of Manchester and further afield.

I also believe that these were used as air raid shelters during WW2, as there was evidence such as posters left behind. We explored what we could, but much was flooded at least 6ft deep, however, watch this space.

Pictures aren't the best as there was no light and I wasn't entirely equipped for this, as I'm often found in your overgroundz.

    Anywho, enjoy.
