Between 1938 and 1941 in the sleepy village of Wünsdorf, 40km south of Berlin

chosen to house the headquarters of Nazi Germany's armed forces and the army high command

    19 Spitzbunker were constructed.

23m high with walls 1m thick and a base diameter of 13m (underground) and 10m at ground level, each air raid shelter

had 8 levels with a design capacity of 315 people, protecting almost 6000 people in total.

After the war, there was a directive to destroy them. 13 are now broken up, lying where they fell.

But six remain intact and one houses a little museum.
