The school closed on 31st August 2016 and it was a mixed day and residential school for pupils from 2 to 19. The pupils that attended this school had special educational needs or were being assessed for one. Most had severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties, with roughly half having autism. Some also had social, emotional, behavioural, physical, speech, or communication difficulties. The pupils were from various ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic groups, with a few in public care. Some students were residential and the school had two sites. There was a Foundation Stage class for young children, providing therapy and assessment services. The school also offered outreach services to support pupils with special needs in mainstream schools, and had partnerships with a local college, social services, health trust, and other schools.
In 2019, Firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service participated in a training exercise involving a large fire at the school and a tower block blaze. The exercise simulated how crews would handle two major incidents simultaneously. The training tested emergency plans and coordination with partner agencies like South East Coast Ambulance Service. It also allowed for the review and improvement of firefighting techniques and capabilities. The goal was to ensure that all lessons learned help enhance emergency response procedures in the future.

An uninterrupted explore, the whole building was embraced by ivy and other plants which looked incredible, nature had well and truly taken over and multiple rooms were smothered in moss and mould. There was an old blue Peugeot that had been crushed which is parked outside one of the garages. Some of the school had been taken over by pigeons and they had well and truly made a home for themselves here. Unfortunately, some of them didn't make it out alive
There were still belongings in one of the rooms - photographs, tapes, records that had all been left behind. A washing machine remains along with a kitchen and some empty bedrooms. Some graffiti is present in some of the rooms. The sports hall has been taken over my moss, mould and pigeons but it is still a great room to see!
