Visited today with Lost, Melvin26bmx, and Andrew, who's not on this site...
Great to finally get in here![Thumb :thumb :thumb](/styles/smilies/thumb.gif)
Unfortunately Bryag couldn't make, especially unfortunate as he did the recce - here http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=25571&highlight=inchindown
Big thanks to the owners for giving us the keys and letting us get on with it![Thumb :thumb :thumb](/styles/smilies/thumb.gif)
It's a big place - map (courtesy of Mike Ross)
The way in to the first tunnel:
Large fan (?) in the wee plant room:
Looking down the tunnel, long shadows![Big Grin :D :D](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/xenforo/biggrin.png)
All the tanks had these tall access ladders:
And these gauges on the walls - these were in feet, gives some idea of scale:
Trying to light-paint the roof - didn't really work![Eek! ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Into the second tunnel, this was much narrower than the first. Note Andrew's rather bright (
) torch - a car battery strapped to his back, and wired into a spotlight!
Entrance to one of the tanks - dated 1941:
Some way in, the tunnels turned from concrete to the natural sandstone:
There was some rather fine fungus![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/xenforo/smile.png)
More fungus, and the tunnel, looking back towards daylight:
Melvin26bmx with torch, Lost lobbed in a glowstick![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/xenforo/smile.png)
Apologies for the blueness of my pics, borrowed Bryags spare camera - and wasn't too good with it![Eek! ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
This was a great explore, I really enjoyed it, and it was good to meet Lost and Melvin26bmx too![Thumb :thumb :thumb](/styles/smilies/thumb.gif)
