“A Landmark Aberdeen department store is to close with the loss of more than 100 jobs, bringing to an end its near 135-year presence in the city.
Esslemont & Macintosh, a Granite City institution since the 1870s, is to cease trading after administrators failed to find a buyer for the sprawling Union Street store.
Last night the outcome was described as a "disaster" for Aberdeen by a retail expert.â€
E&M's finally closed in 2007 and has been lying empty ever since.
