20 Fenchurch Street Crane, London - March 2012
Visited with AndrewB, dicky21, fishbrain, Happyshopper and Bro, Keitei, morse and OliverGT
It seems every new building in London now needs a silly moniker. "Walkie Talkie" or "Pint" is the latest. Designed by Argentinian Rafael Viñoly, the same bloke who did the Tokyo International Forum, it will eventually resemble a pint glass... inspirational. The building will be 160m (525ft) tall, with 36 storeys - the building looks to be close to its final height now - but i'm not sure how tall the crane currently stands... it felt bloomin' high!
The building with more up top
Now that slogan is just too inviting! We decided to take advantage of the lax security arrangements, and stretch this top heavy design philosophy to the crane... in dribs and drabs we got 9 of us up there.
Big thanks to the London peeps for suggesting this. When we met all the guys up top it was a bit surreal but we all had a good laugh and what better place to catch up with your mates than 500ft above our nation's glorious capital...
Shouts to AndrewB and dicky for all their help over the weekend. Fishy for all the driving. Morse for all the insults.
Thanks,
tweek
