This is my first proper report. Hopefully it's to everyone's standards however please be advised I'm dislexic and also NOT a photographer!!!
The visit -
Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of information about Anson Packaging. What we do know is that Anson Packaging Ltd was the UKs’ largest privately owned and successful manufacturer & supplier of thermoformed plastic packaging to the food industry in the UK & Europe. Anson had annual sales of over £40m. It was purchased by Faerch in 2015 so therefore any relevant websites relating to Anson Packaging are now gone. From what I understand the site was used for Packaging of ready meals and food products. The site closed in 2016 and was moved to Lancaster business park in Ely.
One thing to note is that convicted sex offender Richard Maycroft worked at Anson Packaging for many years before he left in 2015.
The visit -
I noticed this site on the way back from work one day and it looked like a very simple farm house. I went back with my urbex partner. Access was extremely tricky but once we were in I was very surprised by just how enormous the site was. Unfortunately the entire site was more or less empty with only a few lonely pallet trucks laying around. Downstairs in the main building was an empty warehouse. Lots of metal structures that I assume would have housed machinery at one point. We entered the workshop which was equally empty aside from the odd vice and work bench. We then followed the signs through pitch black corridors to the offices which seemed again very empty and almost prison like with their bolted to the floor chairs and tables. The third floor had the remains of a cafeteria but the roof has sadly collapsed in. There are two other buildings on the site however both were totally locked up and inaccessible. Security sensors are all over the outside but inside was camera and alarm free from our experience. All in all. A nice visit but with access being so challenging for very little reward I wouldn't recommend it as an out of your way visit.
