I know I'm going to get shot down for this, but the tunnels were not a myth .. at least not totally.. I used to know one of the old music hall entertainers who worked around Blackpool (he's long since gone now, so I can't prove any of this) and he used to tell me about the tunnels that the entertainers used, to move from one theatre to another .. they maybe only connected 2 theatres together and probably aren't the mythical network of tunnels that people imagine, but from what he told me, they were real. I really wish I'd paid more attention to the things he told me and gone into more detail with him.

No, I agree with you and the old fella too mate - I know for a definite irrefutable fact that there was at least one tunnel between the Tower and The Palace Theatre (demolished to make way for the Lewis's store). One end of this tunnel still exists and is used for storage as far as I know but is bricked up at the end - it runs under the former KFC just past what was The Tower Lounge if that's makes sense?

Yes, I know the one you mean .. I've got some pictures of it that were taken by a former employee somewhere.. but from what I remember of the things that the old fella talked about, there was also a tunnel from the Winter Gardens to the old Hippodrome Theatre, which later became the ABC Cinema and eventually The Syndicate nightclub, before it was demolished .. which makes sense as they are just across the road from each other.

It does make sense, and there was/is still quite a large space underneath St John's Square that I believe was used as an air raid shelter too before being at least partially converted into the homeless shelter still in use now

access to these tunnels will be through manhole covers right i live in blackpool anyone up for a late night man hole popping around where we know these tunnels are located see if we get lucky at all

i went in them tonight, its not worth it, anything note worthy has been stripped over the last month, up until the end of last year it looked exactly as the day it closed, have been planning a return visit for ages but left it too late - insta @mikedoesexploring for shitty photos and videos of it.

im going to hit the south pier ones tomorrow too, also have a lead on the gpo in town but i wont hold my breathe.

So going back a bit, it's been cleaned out by Council, Police, Lawfare... Masters... ?

ha ha, I fuckin' wish I was mate - I do sing in a couple of Blackpool based rock bands though if thats almost as cool! lol One is the house band at The Waterloo down South Shore and the other, we gig all over the Fylde Coast & Preston
Yeah, I know the outfall at Anchorsholme though, you wanna stay away from that mate. They pump raw sewage out at times, when it's rained particularly heavy or the storm tanks beneath Anchorsholme Park are full.

Yes, I know they finished Anchorsholme some years back, my mistake, it was Manchester Square I meant to say. Seems a no go though and very dangerous to attempt from the outfall, best discuss via PM if need be.

ah, yeah i know what you mean about Manchester Square, I've seen footage of an explore some guys did a few years ago and it seemed very dangerous to me, certainly not something I'd want to undertake myself! ha ha

yes I got maself all mixed up. I think blackpool being tidal makes these systems all the more edgy, I will pm as best to keep this stuff off the public forums
