I stumbled upon these buildings whilst working in the area and insisted on driving up that day for a mooch around and ended up doing it over two days to ensure i didn't miss anything.
I honestly cant find much history on this at all. It was once a cotton mill, and at one point was chopped up into many offices/businesses. It backs onto Etherow country park, i presume the closest pond once served the mills.
Whist its in quite a state, there's lots to see, and its easy to get lost and lose track of the parts already explored. There are several buildings, and i had no issue accessing any. Some notable parts are a funeral director, a large cellar, a car dealer office with lots of log books/car manuals and some creepy old portraits on one of the upper floors. It appears that somebody may be staying in one of the third floor rooms, so i left that room undisturbed. Overall i'd say its worth a visit if you're fairly local, There's nothing amazing, but plenty going on to easily spend a good few hours looking around.
Thanks for looking!
