Was out for a drive the other day when my partner told me about this place, don’t know why she didn’t tell me sooner!! It is now owned by the community so isn’t abandoned, but my partner knows one of the business owners so after speaking to him we were allowed to freely walk around, we had been stopped before this, the community are funny about it due to break ins of businesses. They do do open days in which you get into see the locked buildings, like the camp store, jail block and a Nissan hut set up as it was when a POW camp.

The bunker is a definite no go, it has been bought by a private company who are going to use it fir data storage! They have huge padlocks even if you get past the cctv and razer wire. Waste if you ask me. It should be restored and open to the public. It is a nuclear bunker and has a broadcasting room in it. One of the locals we spoke to got in as a teenager with pals, said it was really cool.

Anyway here are my pics and some history taken from the web.

Cultybraggon Camp Is the only preserved Prisoner of War camp in Scotland with over 80 original Nissen huts surviving. At its height, the camp was home to 4000 German PoWs before being becoming an MOD training camp from 1948-2004. In 2007, it was acquired by the local community and is now managed by the Comrie Development Trust.

There’s so much more, really worth looking up the history. There was one murder in the camp. One of the POW was accused as being a grass and getting them all caught when trying to escape another camp, they held a kangaroo court and beat him to death.

Hope you all enjoy this post. I thoroughly enjoyed looking round and researching the history. Will definitely go back for an open day to see more.

Fucking hell that's a blast from the past! Me n bunch of mates spent the night there many years ago. I can still feel that hangover to this day. Great to see it again, thanks for posting.

UPDATE:

Since I was last here they have now opened up to public. It is still worth the small charge and if you go on Sunday they do guided tours at no extra cost.

I was there a couple of years ago, think there was a donations box at the entrance. It's a nice place for a stroll and good to see many of the building are being used. You've covered the site nicely :thumb
