Report (Permission Visit) Elvington Nuclear Bunker

I have been meaning to get to this for a few years, finally I was working on Elvington Waste Water Works today and managed to speak with one of the Yorkshire Water guys who kindly pointed me in the right direction. Unfortunately it was completed welded shut, the guy did say it wasn’t emptied of its original contents but would more than likely be under a few feet of water. The very helpful guy did explain other sites around Yorkshire which haven’t been mentioned before so I’ve added them to my list.
The photos are shite I know and there’s not much to show but hopefully one day I’ll get in and get some good photos.

No mate, the old guy I spoke with was certain nobody had been down for 10 years, but remembers everything was left ‘as needed’
I’ve been and photographed Chellow Heights which is immaculate and still into readiness’ I have Langsett and Nutwell next, which are supposed to be immaculate.

More interesting than you think! This is not a single room ROC Bunker but a multi room Yorkshire Water Emergency Control Centre of which Yorkshire Water built 10 each with its own standby generator which also ran the sump drainage pump which was last run over 10 years ago and duplicate telephone exchange to the above ground works.

There is a network of such centres around the country now mostly disused.

I’ve seen and reported Chellow Heights which is the near nuclear bunker in tact, with supplies I’ve seen, but coz I’m a newbie I’m just a small fish.
