Gray's Yard, Norfolk.
Waking up early one cold Sunday morning, I was in the mood to go and have a solo mooch around a nice local place. Grey's yard jumped out at me as it's within half an hour, and I've been wanting to go for ages. No history on Gray's Yard, I don't believe it was an actual business, garage or breaker's yard, I think it was just someone's collection of vehicles that have stood there for many years, they're all now well past their sell by date, slowly sinking into the earth.
I jumped in the car and drove down, got there just as the sun was coming up through the trees. I was greeted by a handful of vintage, decaying vehicles, all so different from one another. The main centrepiece is the Land-Rover 109 amongst the trees. There are several old vans including a few Commers, an old Transit and a Bedford CF. There's a 1970 Ford Zodiac, which was last taxed in 1984 stood next to a lovely purple Mercedes W110 which was probably my favourite motor out of the lot!
Further back there are a few more vans, a huge blue Bedford with a wooden back, a couple of static caravans and finally, the cherry on top, a beautiful pale blue Thames Van parked in the barn, it appears to be in good condition, but I should imagine the underside has rotten out over time.
Gray's Yard is a real gem, Spent a good few hours there with absolutely no bother from anyone. As someone who loves cars and especially old decaying ones, it's the perfect place for me!
The picturesque Land Rover, been there so long, the trees are growing around it.
Loved this old Mercedes, looks as though it has a few colour changes in its life.
This Peugeot 104 was 'special' at one point, not anymore...
Lada which has rotten in half.
1987 FSO Polonez 1.5 litre petrol, last on the road in 2001.
Not sure what happened to this Austin Maxi, but it looks like it hurt!
Makes for a good photo, this one. Almost looks salvageable
Interior of the 1970 Ford Zodiac, look at all that veneer!
Thanks For Reading!
