Status: INACCESSIBLE

Hiked out to my local ROC post to check up on it, as the last report I could see was from 2009.

On approach we could see a large pile of hay bails to the side. Inspecting further showed that these had been recently stacked on top of the access hatch to prevent entry. Kicking myself that I didn't check this out sooner as they don't look like they've been on there long.

The ground surrounding the post was saturated with water. Unless this post was lined, I suspect it's flooded inside.

The ventilation shaft has been damaged too, with the debris covers removed.

Approaching from the west, mound seen to the left:

Trees surrounding the bunker, possibly to obscure it from the roadside?

Here you can see the waterlogged ground to the left of the air vent

Big pile of hay bails covering the entrance hatch. As fair as I can tell from reports online, nobody has been in since 1968.

More waterlogged ground and a clearer view of the damaged ventilation shaft

Reach of the hatch pile plus instrument access pipe.

Whoops accidentally added the bonus pic of the abandoned greenhouse - saw a few of these on the way to it, thought they were pretty neat

What can try with these type of posts is a FSM cam as some people used to call them - unbolt the lid of the FSM and send a small pinhole camera / light on a pole. Could also do it on string down the vent. I remember years ago someone doing it on a North Yorkshire post that had always been sealed and inside was a BPI still attached to its fixing.

That's a great idea! I'll see if I can bodge something in the coming week and revisit the post.
