One night in Norway

There are a few major cities around the world where you just have no idea whats actually there. If you think of London you’ll think of the Houses of Parliament or Buckingham Palace, Paris the Eiffel Tower, San Francisco the Golden Gate Bridge etc etc, then there are places like Oslo, where no one has any idea whats there… Well myself, Seffy and WhoDaresWins decided to go investigate. Another sort of group report to save so many reports from the same place and littering 28 with the same old shit. I know this has all in sorts been done before but it shows what you can do in just one evening in a cold European city if you can stay out of Belgium.

I had spoken with GES001 previously about the possibility of sleeping in the metro in Oslo and he advised not too, too cold, too bait if any trackies happened to be walking through and apparent hefty fines if caught trespassing on the metro according to a comment i read Dsankts report, though never actually confirmed. GES001 recommended sleeping in one of the bunkers and with that the bed was officially made.

We checked these out early evening after meeting up with OU and a quick little wander around them both, they’re pretty big but provided somewhere warm to sleep with somewhere to charge our phones and cook a pizza if we had thought ahead.

SUBSTATION

Earlier in the day we had noticed a weird little building in the centre of Oslo, it seemed intriguing as we didn’t know what it was but we were busy checking access for the evening so moved on, a bit later we walked past it again but this time tried the door, it opened and quicker than you can say ‘fuck me its cold in norway’ we were all stood in a dark room under Oslo with a rumble of trains whizzing by in the metro a few meters away. Any ideas to further what this is, answers on a postcard please.

METRO EXTENSION

We then proceeded to drink in a student bar underground for a few hours and took advantage of the cheap beers (London prices), quick stop at Mcdonalds and we were on our way to find the new metro extension being built. By this point in the evening the metro was starting to wind down a little and trains becoming less frequent, allowing us the time needed to hop a fence onto the live lines, run down the tracks, hop the third and dash under a fence into the new tunnel narrowly avoiding the new and hopefully switched off thirds.

Unfortunately on this occasion we nearly bumped into workers in the tunnel leading up to the new station so didn’t press too hard considering the way we got in. We strolled back up the tracks and waited for the metro to zoom past before we hopped the live rails and ran back up the track to our access to get the metro from the nearest station a few hundred meters away to the next stop on our evening plans.

VOLVAT DERP STATION

We arrived here late ish, but with enough time to watch the last train go through the station nearby, we then expected the same train to come back maybe 20 mins later to go to the depot, about 45 mins later it arrived and signalled our time to hop onto the tracks and dash into the derp station.

After being in the station about 10 mins and managing to fire off a few shots we suddenly heard a rumble up ahead, we dashed onto the old stairs now blocked off and hid as best we could and witnessed a works train blast through awfully quickly. After it had gone we assumed the coast was clear and headed down and again back onto the tracks, perhaps a minute later the same familiar sound rumbled up again and we went back to where we were before, this time filming.

It was time to leave we decided, managed to get one last shot looking into the station and we packed away, listened for trains and did the usual fun but shitty experience of running on ballast trying not to trip and faceplate the rails to get out.

VALKYRIE PLASS DERP STATION

After checking this ones access during the little daylight we had we noticed something spectacular and i decided i wanted it more than anything, scroll down and you will see. Probably the most relaxed station I’ve done, the disco ball was a nice touch.

Then we did the long walk back to our hotel for the night, we managed to salvage some cushions and whatnot and sleep in the decontamination room of the very first bunker. The only thing i remember from the walk back is that it was cold and Seffy spent 2 sterlings on a banana.

The following morning we got some breakfast, got some coffee, wandered about the seafront and opera house roof, nearly missed our flight for oh so many reasons and somehow managed to get to our gate at the airport 10 mins after it shut and still managed to make the flight back to London for a cup of tea at mine before Seffy and WhoDaresWins made the next trip back to Bristol for work in the morning. Thanks to the Asian girl we got the taxi with, ive forgot your name and sorry for ditching you at the scanners in the airport. You'll forever be a hero.

One night in Oslo, cheers lads.

Cracking report Gabe. Lots of memories of the trip. That Asian girl was definitely our hero. As well as the scary looking ticket inspector for helping some brothers out.
