2. The Explore
Bit of a break from Welsh slate quarries. Was passing so thought it rude not to pop into this old favourite and do a quick update. There’s been few changes since I was here last July. However, the road up to it has been tarmac-ed and runs up to the main entrance. Also, the now converted church looks like it is on the brink of opening as a rather nice high-end café. Hence pre- or post-explore tiffin will soon be in order.

The hospital itself is little changed. There is still a significant number of buildings to look round, albeit most on them empty. There are some great shots to be had here though and there’s access to most if not all buildings. And the site itself is currently a complete walk in.

3. The Pictures

The basement in this building is still pretty flooded:

In the main, it’s a shell:

But bizarrely in this room is this elevating bath:

And these smashed up toilets upstairs:

Very nice shots there it looks good with a bit more foliage around the admin block, it was barren when I went in March. It's a pretty unexciting mooch on the whole but I think it's worth it just to get a shot of the admin and greenhouse

Curious at what time did you visit? I tried a few months back at night and was pretty impossible to get in… since seen a few people go. Couldn’t find my way inside at all and cameras all over? Great pics too! Thanks for sharing.

Not sure if it's changed but about two months ago it was probably the easiest place to access in the country with locals popping out all over the place

Yeah I think this changed shortly after. I’m pretty local and headed down on my own but was confident to go alone… went back with a friend and cameras all over the place and not knowing the layout I didn’t want to risk it as it wasn’t an easy access. So gutted! Not much else this way thats too interesting unfortunately.

To be honest mate it's in a rough way, I wouldn't say it was worth it unless it was easy. Give St Johns a try for a similar level of effort

as above Iv been several times over the years & its always been dead easy. even if the fence is complete which it rarely is, its a easy one to get over / under!
