Heading out late one night we set off in search for these long forgotten sand mines.
After spening some time running around in the dark frantically looking for an access point we finally found what we'd been looking for.
The tunnels were once part of a much larger complex of tunnels that runs under Reigate but at some stage got seperated.
During WW2 this set of tunnels (and some others) got used as air raid shelters.
Once the larger public access was installed it enabled 600 students from Reigate County Girls School to take refuge.
A huge shout out to Soylent green and BigBadAsh for finding this place.
