Me and monk decided to spend our sunday at stone house hospital and it turned out to be another awsome explore. The security was very active making it an unrelaxed day but we were still able to spend a few hours in the buildings.
Opened in 1866 as city of london asylum it was built to home just 220 patients, The name was changed in 1924 to city of london mental hospital then once again in 1948 on transferral to the NHS to stone house hospital with now a population of nearly 600 patients, In the late 1980s the east area of the grounds was developed as learning disabilities villas so that the nearby darenth park hospital could be closed, The grounds now have partly been demolished and building work has allredy started with the new houses being built and there are plans for the main parts of the hospital being preserved and made into apartments.
