Not been out with the camera for nearly four months due to lockdown, so a few weeks ago I had a wander around this local spot. Not a lot to it really apart from an old church tower ruin. And a part used graveyard with the rear part being old. But It was nice to have a wander in the sun for an hour. The last time I popped here was on 2013 and I could not get in the tower but this time there was an easy walk in to look inside. The church was built in the 13th century with later additions in the 15th century. The church was demolished in 1840 except the west tower. A small mortuary chapel was built later. This was because the new church built nearer to the village no burials could be done here because of the level of the water table. So burials continue still at the old site.
There are a few war commission graves in the cemetery for fallen soldiers. This one caught my eyes, a local Norfolk lad in the Australian army. Private Colman lost his life at the age of 26. Another life not lived to it's full in a futile war. I did some looking and found his records which was quite interesting to me.
